Starting as we mean to go: up the front!
With nerves and embrication in the air, the Sandy Wallace Women get ready to race. Making her début in road racing, time trialling supremo Tory Hunter looks relaxed, chatting to team mate Sharon Doyle. Kate Russell, in the middle of the blue jerseys, looks focused on the job in hand. On the front row, Fiona Duncan deals with the pre-race nerves with some breathing exercises. Pretty in pink, Jay Burgess looks for some guidance from the team's most experienced rider, Mari Todd.

Having six riders in the peloton gave us a distinct advantage, one that we used to full advantage, securing the top three places. With three riders in a break away, the remaining riders quickly pulled together to ensure that the break got and kept a large gap. This really captures the great camaraderie between the girls.
